Strategy For The End of Days: A Torah-Based Strategy For Surviving The Transition To The Messianic Era – By Rabbi Pinchas Winston

EVERYBODY HAS A rough day. The world has even had rough years. The Jewish people, well they have had a rough history, and here it comes again.

There will be enemies of the Jewish people among the nations until Moshiach comes. There will be enemies among the Jewish people until Moshiach comes. But sometimes both are just so overwhelming that it makes a loyal Jew want to hide.

But we’re running out of places to go. When we were all slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt, it might have been possible to escape to another country. When we had to flee from Europe, we could run to other continents. But now we’re all over the world and so are the anti-Semites, while at home in Eretz Yisroel we have to stave off insurrection. How are we supposed to survive that?

With a strategy. We need a strategy to survive the end of days. It won’t be military, which may end up failing anyhow. It will be intellectual, psychological, spiritual, and above all, Torah-based, because it is the only strategy that can work for a Jew. Because, when it’s all said and done, what you know takes you a lot further than what you have to work with.

We’re not talking about ways to perform acts that can miraculously save you from danger, though that can happen. We’re talking about getting a psychological handle on the changing world around us so that we can keep relative peace of mind while others try to tear it away from us. And some of that might just help with physical survival as well.

This might sound a little melodramatic for now, but that’s only because you’re not taking the time to better understand Jewish history, and what is happening now. In a short while it will seem like just the opposite, not dramatic enough, as the world shows us what it is really made of.

It already is. America is becoming more sympathetic to the Palestinians than the Israelis, while Canada has banned shechitah and arms sales to Israel. South Africa has taken Israel to the Hague, accusing Israel of war crimes, while promising arrest for any returning South Africans who fought in the IDF.

The Palestinians, once a non-people that even the rest of the Arab world wished would go away, have since endeared themselves to the world, having a far greater impact on their minds and hearts than their numbers, actions, and overall logic justify. It is becoming lonelier by the day to be Jewish, and especially an Israeli Jew.

For some, this is disheartening, especially those who thought that fierce anti-Semitism died at the end of World War II. For others, it is mind-boggling, because they just cannot find the logic behind what is happening today. Dark clouds hover over the Jewish people, and it is making a lot of us very uneasy.

We need a way to deal with all of this. We need a way to rise above it so that we do not become overtaken by it.  We need to become less intellectually and emotionally vulnerable to the current direction of history so that we can keep our heads above water until Moshiach comes to save us all.

We need a strategy for the End of Days.
